Program Coordinator – Internship position (Toronto – Canada)

Summery:

The responsibility of this key leadership position is the development of new Continuing Education program within healthcare sector including program planning, consulting services, partnership initiation and management. Moreover, the program coordinator is responsible for professional liaison and quality control within the assigned field. The coordinator is expected to seek out new opportunities, create/ modify courses and activities under supervision of the advisory board and the office of Continuing Education.
The coordinator will work closely with the Director of the Continuing Education office and the President of the Institute to identify opportunities, resolve concerns, and provide supervision and direction to the instructors ensuring consistency with the goals and objectives of the program and the institute.

Relationships:

Reports to: Director of the Continuing Education office
Subordinate staff: Continuing Education instructors
Other internal contacts: students, directors of the institute, and president of the institute

Major responsibilities:

1. Program Development/Implementation/Evaluation:
a. Conduct needs assessment
b. Develop and maintain professional contacts
c. Liaise with professional associations/advisory committee
d. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with the Program faculty
e. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with business, industry and community organizations in order to identify and assess their training needs
f. Design/initiate curriculum as required
g. Provide all information to transfer program from development to operations
h. Review course/program/instructor evaluations and utilize the data to plan, modify program

2. Personnel:
a. Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, orientation and performance management of CE Instructional staff
b. Supervise CE Instructional staff
c. Negotiate instructor contracts and pay rates
d. Establish pay rates and criteria within program area
e. Collaborate with other Program Coordinators to ensure consistency
f. Approve course curricula

3. Marketing:
a. Determine and define the various target markets related to the area of expertise
b. Develop marketing plans for program area and communicate to the director of Marketing and Business Development
c. Collaborate on the design of specific marketing materials.
d. Prepare course descriptions and write-ups.
e. Media liaison and communicate to the director of Media and Communication.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree in one of these fields: Education, Business, Health Sciences, management or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal, relationship building and conflict resolution skills
• Creative problem solving skills
• Excellent oral, written, analytical and technical skills
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Ability to determine priorities, be self-directed and work with minimal supervision
• Proficient in a variety of computer applications
• Strong leadership and team-oriented skills
